Description
The perfect romantic retreat!
Kilmorie Lodge is a sunny, semi-detached, spacious one-bedroom 'reverse level' cottage with breath-taking views from the first-floor lounge balcony with far reaching sea views across Meadfoot Beach and Torbay.
Perfectly located being on the doorstep of the wonderful natural scenery of the South West Devon coast and the large selection of amenities & attractions of the vibrant coastal resort town of Torquay, this lovely spacious holiday cottage provides the perfect romantic escape!
Access to Kilmorie Lodge is up a sloped path which leads to the garden and back door which leads into a fully fitted kitchen and through to a wheelchair friendly wet room and into a spacious, ground floor bedroom suite furnished with a comfy 5ft king-size bed with bedside tables, mirror, wardrobes, sofas, large TV & DVD player. Sea views can be enjoyed from a large picture window and the pretty garden views are seen from the French doors which lead out to the enclosed garden, planted with Azaleas & palm trees to suit the mild and sunny Torquay climate. Alfresco dining can be enjoyed out in the garden as well as on the upstairs balcony each serviced by a kitchen on each level!
The wet room is fitted with a power shower, grab rails, hand basin & toilet leading off the kitchen and next to the bedroom door. The ground floor also features solid wood flooring and some fine antique pieces for a touch of refinement and comfort.
The novelty factor is by way of two fully fitted kitchens - one downstairs for practical ease with alfresco dining in the garden and a second kitchen upstairs in the very sunny, spacious living/dining room. Both kitchens are fitted with all the desired cooking appliances including full height fridge freezers, electric hob, oven, dishwasher & washing machine (downstairs only).
And the cottages 'pièce de résistance' is the upstairs sea view living room & balcony where guests can enjoy relaxing on spaciousness and comfort while taking in the beautiful views through the balcony French windows which can be opened fully to the energising sea breezes that roll in. The second fully fitted kitchen and dining area is there for easy enjoyment and is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine and a lovely meal in the evening, a cup of coffee and a good book in the day or to enjoy snuggling up in front of the TV.
Location
From the property, the 22 mile of glorious South Devon coastline is easily accessible from the nearby South West coastal path. Guests can enjoy exploring and marvelling over the dramatic heritage shore with its beaches, woodland trails and picturesque seaside towns including Dartmouth and Salcombe.
The vibrant seaside resort town of Torquay with its wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops and presented to visitors in a picturesque Victorian era resort with palm-lined promenade, pleasure grounds and grand sweeping Regency crescents with harbour walks and local visitor attractions provides the ideal place from which to explore the breath taking surrounding area and coastline, which still provides the perfect holiday escape today.
Torquay's waterfront is the focus of life in the town. Here you'll find the palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, a lively harbour and an international marina. The Living Coasts attraction adds to the variety of the new waterfront and the illuminated bridge is a great backdrop to a relaxing evening drink. Yet within minutes of Torquay town centre there are beautiful beaches easily accessible by foot, road or sea. There is an abundance of pavement cafés, Torquay pubs, restaurants and nightlife in Torquay, good quality shops and a host of attractions to suit every interest.
Nearby guests can also enjoy the picturesque Cockington Country Park, the popular Paignton Zoo, the many fine Golf Clubs and the geographical wonder that is Kents Cavern just up the road. The Torquay coast also offers a wide range of sport activities to enjoy from sailing, surfing, fishing to golf, canoeing and horse riding.
Several of our beaches hold coveted awards for cleanliness and water quality. Torbay is a naturally sheltered bay, creating a haven for ships of all shapes and sizes in stormy weather. Occasional easterly winds create our own winter storms however and this is when beachcombers make their best finds. Keep an eye on the Torquay weather page!
