Cast off into a dream, with this carefree pet-friendly holiday home for 4!
This beautifully presented and fabulously located house is ideal for those who want to be out and about but have everything they need to relax in comfort and style when they return 'home'.
Perfect for pet owners and just the thing for a family or maybe two couples looking for style and simplicity with all sorts of outdoor activities on their doorstep.
This 2 bedroomed property has a master bedroom with a wall-mounted TV and the most incredible views of the River Dart from giant windows. The second bedroom can be used either as a twin or as a king-sized room with easy to adapt ‘zip & link’ twin beds which join to make a huge 6ft x 6ft 6" bed! (When booking please inform us if you'd like the bed left as two singles or made into a superking) There is plenty of wardrobe space and both rooms are tastefully decorated with a nautical theme throughout. Cot and high chair are also available if required.
A spacious bathroom has separate bath and shower and there is a second cloakroom downstairs.
The kitchen is well equipped should you wish to eat at home with bar stools for a relaxed breakfast or chatting with a drink while dinner is prepared.
There are also dining tables and chairs both inside and out ready for whatever the weather may bring.
With a comfy lounge featuring a Samsung Curve TV, Freesat, Smart Services, DVD and a Bose Sound-dock 10, along with Wi-Fi throughout the property, this house really does have everything you need.
As far as outside space is concerned the sunny, secluded courtyard garden is accessible through doors from the main living room but also via a side gate which provides plenty of space for storing bikes, kayaks, paddle boards or other sporting equipment.
Lockable and secure this is a safe and sound spot for the four-legged members of the family to relax in.
There is also a private parking space in front of the house for a modest family car.
There's no need to worry about bringing lots of food and supplies with you when you stay here. Stoke Gabriel Stores provide fresh fruit and vegetables, local meats, bakery products and all the basics plus beer and wine so you'll be able to stock up when you arrive.
The Post Office also sells all sorts of bits and pieces including chemist sundries and there's the lovely Country Gallery featuring local arts, crafts and gifts.
You can't get a lot closer to the River Dart than Dart Retreat. So, if water sports are your thing then this could not be better located. A two-minute walk down Mill Hill and you're right at the riverside.
Stoke Gabriel is also famous for its delightful Mill Pond, the shores of which are home to The River Shack where you can enjoy a bite to eat or a drink or two after a busy day sightseeing. Maybe relax a little or bag yourself a crabbing line and bucket and see what you can catch.
If you're looking to eat out but not go far the Castle Inn, the Church House Inn, and Emma's Restaurant are all on your doorstep.
There are miles and miles of stunning coastline on offer in this area with plenty of beaches and cafes as well as lots more off the beaten track paths and coves should you wish to get away from everyone else.
As well as the water sports, walking and cycling opportunities there are a host of great family attractions along with plenty of culture. Totnes and Dartmouth are full of galleries and smart eateries and Paignton, Torquay and Babbacombe all have theatres with amazing shows.
Notes: When booking please inform us if you'd like the second bedroom left as two singles or made into a superking. This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200, which is payable to Discovery Holiday Homes with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure. A lovely property, close to the river and all amenities. The standard of decor and equipment is excellent.Mrs Dawn Lusher - 13th October 2019
A great base for safe dog walks, 4 or 5 different 45-2hr walks 100 metres from the front door. We had 2 pubs, 2 restaurants, 1 small shop and all were top notch. If you want the most out of the area, join the National Trust. Mr David Taylor - 13th September 2019
Beautiful place lovely location but beware narrow country roads for the last few miles Mrs Michelle Hickman - 23rd July 2019
We had a lovely time at Dart Retreat. It is very comfortable, well-equipped, and in a good location. It was nice to have parking, and the enclosed patio to keep our bicycles in was very useful. We would stay there again.Mrs Lindsay Rossdale - 19th May 2019
We would definitely recommend the property/area & team to our friends & relatives. I'm sure we will be back very soon.Mr Stuart Langston - 12th May 2019

Lovey time we all had, including our 2 dogs. Perfect base to meet up with family who live and work in the area. We would love to return. Thanks, xDavid & Denise - 11th December 2018
A delightful location, with excellent personal touches made by the owners, plus a real treat of finding a wonderful cake for us, plus bottles of cider, on our arrival. Stoke Gabriel was a peaceful beautiful location too. Dart Retreat is a wonderful place to escape from the rat run, and to be surrounded by the wonderful River Dart and surrounding countryside. Mr Kevin Spiller (Home Away) - 20th August 2018
Thank you for a great time, the Dart Retreat was an excellent place for rest and fun for us. Chris & Sue we’re both very attentive and we hope to make a return visit next year. Kevin - 19th August 2018

Excellent holiday in fabulous accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Everything went as planned, trouble free and stress free, perfect!.Mr James Jacobs - 28th May 2018
Exceptionally clean and organised. Very friendly, welcoming owner(s) who - due to unforseen/emergency situation - were incredibly kind and generous in giving their time, help and enormous support to myself and my dog!!Ms Donna Brown - 20th November 2017
An excellent property, all newly modernised and furnished, meticulously clean, nicely decorated, all organised with thought and tastefully done. Very comfortable beds, the best out of the very many cottages in which we have stayed. We had a very comfortable stay, a lovely welcome from the owner, which included a delicious cake and a bottle of local cider, not to mention the extra towels and treats for our dog. The cottage is very handy for the excellent Castle Inn, the incredibly well stocked village shop and the River Shack a 2 minute walk away by the river. There are some lovely walks near the cottage, and the views from the riverside are beautiful. Also the sight of hundreds of geese flying over in the early evening and settling on the river. Hunts cider just outside the village is well worth a visit too. Would not recommend the Church House Inn. Excellent service from the agents, including one of the staff driving out to the cottage in rush hour in order to answer a question I had asked about the cottage! Mrs S Beadle - 5th October 2017
Beautiful property, newly refurbished to a high standard, very well equipped. Nice secure courtyard seating area. Excellent central location, our children loved the crabbing! Friendly owners. Only slight issue was that parking was tight with a large car.The Cheshire Family - 20th August 2017
