A beautifully renovated period home, the interior has been refurbished throughout. The front room is flooded with a natural light, thanks to the gorgeous original shop front window. The open plan space has been fitted with ambient side lights too, making it ideal for day-night entertaining.
The charming space reflects a timeless coastal style and a playful twist; with a cosy armchair with Angle poise-style reading lamp facing in to the room, alongside an ambient wood burning stove. The romantic fireplace is complemented by a stylish nautical striped L-shape sofa, which has been carefully placed in a snug part of the room, to face the warm glow of the fire.
Guests can enjoy curling up here in the evenings and colder months, with a hot mug of cocoa and a favourite film on the flat screen TV with DVD player provided. The home is also Wi-Fi enabled, for added convenience.
The open plan room features a stylish wooden dining area for four and an adjoining modern kitchen (which is cleverly tucked away and features a breakfast bar for two). Fully-equipped with an oven, hob, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher and fridge freezer, the kitchen provides everything you need to kick back and enjoy a carefree self-catering break. A memorable bonus of this place is its proximity to local eateries too, should you wish to sample Shaldon’s famous foodie reputation first hand!
From the kitchen diner, a staircase leads to the lower ground floor (where two sleeping rooms and a modern shower room are situated). Each of the two sleeping rooms are without a window; which in many ways promises a good night’s sleep, and a peaceful rise in the morning. The master room is finished in a serene sandy hue, with a chunky Ash king-size bed featuring alongside 2 painted bedside tables and a discreetly placed fitted wardrobe.
The second accompanying room has been finished with a fun nautical flair; with colourful bunting and soft furnishings complementing the two single beds and a conveniently-placed fitted wardrobe.
A contemporary fitted bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin, spot-lit vanity mirror, heated towel rack and WC complete the layout of the lower ground floor.
Outside, the holiday home benefits from a nearby parking space.
Nestled amongst a delightful throng of Shaldon village amenities, guests will not need to travel too far to find a tasty meal, a tasty deli buy, a holiday gift or quirky art piece. The holiday retreat is situated next to the wonderful ‘Coffee Rush!’ café too, which specialises in freshly brewed morning coffee, cakes, snacks, classic ice cream and the occasional holiday tipple.
Home to more colourful cafes and a selection of acclaimed local restaurants (including the Michelin star ‘Ode Restaurant’), the quaint fishing village of Shaldon serves up everything; from fine high-end dining to wholesome crab sandwiches!
The family-friendly Shaldon Beach and timeless riverside setting with ferry service offers a great starting point for sightseeing, as well as for classic beach days on the main beach or at quirky Ness Cove (reachable via the old Smugglers tunnel!). Guests can easily soak up many water-based activities too, including canoeing, sailing and water sports. In August time, village also hosts the annual Shaldon Regatta.
Shaldon village is also home to a lovely park and recreation ground, a 9-hole golf course, a small local zoo and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens.
The passing South West Coastal Path provides the perfect excuse to take to a coastal trail, as well as to enjoy a picnic or some bird watching along the way.
Visitors are placed within a 20 minutes’ drive of lively Torquay; the jewel of the English Riviera. The surrounding area is also awash with beautiful National Trust attractions, blue flag beaches, coastal tourist attractions and sport activity centres. Nearby Dartmoor also offers memorable day trips of walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports.
