This self-catering holiday retreat in Shaldon was awarded the prestigious Four Star Gold Self Catering rating by Enjoy England and perfectly accommodates families and groups of friends.
Salty House is an early 18th Century Grade II listed property in South Devon. Spacious and beautifully furnished, the house comfortably sleeps 8 people.
The upper floors are made up of 4 bedrooms, 1 family bathroom and a family shower room.
Meanwhile, the ground floor boasts a cloakroom WC, a fully-equipped kitchen and stylish living area.
Wi-Fi access is available throughout the property.
A terrace featuring a table and chairs for 8 guests offsets the pretty flowered garden, with views over the River Teign, harbour and the moors.
Salty House is just 10 minutes' walk from Shaldon's Fore Street where you can enjoy the offerings of The Coffee Rush and Shaldon Bakery, before trying a spot of crabbing. The Yummy Shop sells scrummy ice-creams, jams, pickles and hampers.
Café Ode is nestled high up on 'The Ness' overlooking the bay and serves locally loved fish and chips. The fisherman's village is also home to four cosy pubs and plenty of shops.
The award-winning 'Ode Restaurant' (sister to Café Ode) is just a few steps from the property and run by Tim Bouget, a Michel Roux trained chef. Book in advance as they seat just 24 in their intimate front room setting!
Stomping ground to the Celts and Saxons, Shaldon offers a traditional coastal break. The Shaldon Regatta, taking place every August, is reputed to be the oldest in the UK. Guests can also take the oldest river crossing in England with the passenger ferry to Teignmouth.
The Ringmore riverside offers pretty walks, while the South West Coastal Path boasts beautiful treks. Other attractions include a 9-hole golf course, a zoo, National Trust properties, botanical gardens and stunning Dartmoor.
Children will love discovering the ancient smuggler's tunnel, the only way to access the famous Ness beach where you can enjoy BBQ's before the open sea.
Exeter and Totnes are not too far, and Torquay's delights are only a 20 minute drive away.
