What a delightful cottage & beautifully furnished! There is everything you could possibly need. We ate out but everything you would need to 'self cater'. Our family came across from Ivybridge & booked for Sunday lunch at London Inn it was excellent - but you need to book. We love Shaldon & Teignmouth as it brings so many happy past memories & things haven't changed very much, only eateries are much improved!! Thank you for the lovely cream tea & for James' welcome. Unfortunately the weather was awful so didn't go walking as much as normal! Many many thanks & God Bless.Derrick & Tina, Wythall Worcester - 18th May 2017
This was our second visit to Oyster Cottage and I'm sure it won't be the last! It is ideal for young children as only a short walk to the beach, the Clipper cafe at the end of the road and right next to the village green. The house is clean and comfortable and all communications with the owner very efficient. Also very nice large shower installed since our last visit! Great base to explore lovely Shaldon.Victoria - 7th March 2017
We keep returning to this lovely cottage and it's always a delight both in the Summer and Winter. The cottage is seconds from the sea, immaculate and perfect for couples or families. Shaldon is a lovely little village that doesn't close down off-season as so many do but has restaurants and family pubs (like the London Inn) open all year round and clearly enjoyed by the locals as well. The description of the cottage is accurate and a lovely Devonshire cream tea has always greeted us on arrival! We've had great summer holidays here as well as cosy weekends away in the winter. Would highly recommend!Chloe - 11th January 2017
A cosy cottage within easy reach of all amenities. We were met on arrival and 'shown the ropes' which was helpful after a long journey. Oyster cottage has been nicely renovated and is right on the green in Shaldon, so is well situated for the excellent London Inn and the Clipper Cafe.It was our first visit to Shaldon and we found it quite charming ( and being at the end of the holiday season, pleasantly quiet). We would strongly recommend buying a weekly parking ticket, around £20 and leaving the car in the town car park, which is about a 10 minute walk, along the front from the cottage. This avoids any early rising to beat the parking restrictions, which ( in season) kick in at 8.00am.All in all a lovely week, with the benefit of some lovely, late season sunshine. We very much hope to return.Paul - 12th October 2016
We loved our stay in Oyster cottage and Shaldon. The cottage is in excellent condition, well furnished and in a brilliant location. We would definitely recommend the cottage in particular and Shaldon in general.Richard - 17th September 2016
We have stayed in a number of holiday cottages in Shaldon over the years and this is by far the best. The cottage has been refurbished to a very high level and is very light and airy. The location is absolutely superb - right on the green and a minute from the beach. Morning coffee and glass of wine in the evening sat at the dining table with the French doors to the Juliette balcony open watching the world go by on the green - so relaxing! We were a group of 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 7. Although the cottage is compact, we didn't feel crammed in. The lack of a garden didn't matter when you have the green and beach on your door step. The on-street parking is easy or use the main public car park - only c£20 for the week.Wish we could be back in Shaldon now and staying in Oyster Cottage - the most perfect seaside village I know and the most perfect holiday cottage.Mary - 12th September 2016
The cottage is beautifully situated overlooking the village green. It is very well equipped and our initial concerns that it might be on the snug side were immediately displaced on arrival. It has been very thoughtfully converted and had a lovely light and airy feel and our family of 2 adults, a 9 year old and a 6 week old baby never felt on top of one another. The service from both the owner and manager were excellent and the cream tea waiting on our arrival was very welcome. I cannot recommend Oyster Cottage and Shaldon highly enough.Vikki - 30th August 2016
The cottage met our expectations from the description provided. It was very clean and well maintained and the welcome cream tea was appreciated. Well positioned within easy access of all local attractions and amenities and an excellent view of the Teignmouth fireworks in carnival week. I would recommend unreservedly to friends and family.Jenny - 11th August 2016
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is upside down with the bathroom and bedrooms on the ground floor and the lounge and kitchen upstairs. This works really well. When you are having your breakfast or dinner you can look out over the bowling green or along the road next to the river front. Being upstairs gives a great view. The kitchen is very well equipped, although we didn't use very much of it as we ate out most meals! The cottage is very clean and decoration is new and is in very good condition. It is only a short walk to the ferry to cross the river which then takes you over to Teignmouth if you want to do some shopping. If you fancy a bit more of a walk then its not too far to walk over the bridge into town. This cottage is highly recommended!Andrew - 8th July 2016
We had a lovely relaxing break at Oyster Cottage, the cottage is beautifully decorated and well looked after and has everything you could possibly need. We loved the idea of having the living area upstairs, and being able to sit and look out over the village green and out to sea from the two large windows. The cottage is in a brilliant location, right in the heart of the village and close to the shops, pubs, restaurants and beaches.Everyone we met in Shaldon during our stay were really friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We had some great meals at the London Inn and the Clipper. We hope to return soon.Claire - 7th April 2016
Lovely cottage with bedrooms downstairs, open plan lounge/diner/kitchen upstairs with welcome basket of a cream tea. Very clean, light and comfortable. Bathroom has no external window but is nicely appointed and running the dehumidifier keeps it fresh and dry. Busy limited parking nearby but could always find somewhere. Just minutes to the beach and the little ferry to Teignmouth, lovely local cafes such as The Strand, excellent butcher, great walks to be had on cliff paths towards Torquay. Peaceful place, great location, well run by owner and local overseers.Carol - 4th November 2015
A beautifully decorated and charming cottage! We stayed for a long weekend and absolutely loved the house and the setting. Shaldon is the perfect small village for a get away but also well supplied enough to make sure you're not too isolated. Oyster Cottage provides everything you could need, and is walking distance from two beaches, several shops and lots of lovely restaurants.Maddy - 29th June 2015
Very hospitable hosts and very helpful with telling us about the area, getting in some shopping for us on our arrival and coming out specially when the oven stopped working! Lovely accommodation so bright and spacious and well cared for. Great location. Very accessible for everywhere and easy to park.Angela Bingham, UK - 1st December 2014
Lovely stay here at Oyster Cottage.Travelled with toddler and cottage ideal for her. Stayed in shaldon numberous times and always lovely and villagers so friendly. Definitely be back soon! Thanks for letting us share your beautiful cottage. The Coopers - 1st October 2014
My name is Ruby. I came to stay in Devon with my parents. I loved my bunk bed and the scones with jam and cream. We all had a lovely time.Thank you.Ruby, aged 9, Oxford - 1st October 2014
Oyster Cottage is more suited to a couple. Parking is a pain. Would be better if the owner could supply a parking permit for a designated space - I can only imagine in high season, it would be even more difficult. Cottage well situated for the great facilities in Shaldon, very friendly village with everything you could wish for. The cream tea left for our arrival was a lovey touch, the bath could do with a step as its rather high to get in and out of, an elderly person may struggle.Teresa Clifford from Derby - 1st June 2014
5* Fantastic holiday Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Cottage location is perfect. Our daughter enjoyed the view from her highchair of watching children playing on the green. It was very comfortable and clean and perfect layout for a crawling baby. One recommendation to future guests, if your planning on eating out during school holidays make sure you book a table in advance! If not enjoy the fish and chip shop right behind the cottage.Cath, UK - 1st April 2014
5* Oyster Cottage Shaldon! Oyster Cottage is the perfect base from which to explore Shaldon and the local area. The cottage itself is well thought out Nd beautifully decorated with everything you need. It's upside down layout means there are beautiful picture windows with views of the sea and the green. We went with our 2-year-old and it worked perfectly for us as everything is within walking distance, lovely beach and restaurants and Shaldon zoo. We would definitely recommend staying at Oyster Cottage.Geraldine, UK - 1st April 2014
5* Great Place to Stay! Great holiday cottage, really well equipped with all mod cons. Good location, minutes from the beach and all the other amenities. Four of us stayed there for a week (2 adults and 2 children 6 & 4 years old) the cottage is child friendly, safe and enough room for all of us. Shaldon is a quaint fishing village and very safe for kids, there are several pubs, cafés and restaurants along with it's very own micro brewery located at the Ode Café, well worth a try. The surrounding area has lots of things to do for children rain or shine. A great place to stay for a family holiday!TR, UK - 1st February 2014
5* Lovely Cottage! We have just had a short break at Oyster Cottage in Shaldon. The cottage did not disappoint, it was as described, very clean, tidy and had everything we needed and we received a lovely welcome from the owner. The Cottage was bright with large windows with a view of the estuary. We also could see the Green opposite, which was nice. The Cottage is ideally situated in the heart of Shaldon and only a stones throw from plenty of food options plus the small local shops. If you are thinking of visiting Shaldon, we would highly recommend this cottage to you. We look forward to returning in the Summer!A previous customer - 1st February 2014
5* We'll be Back! Oyster Cottage was delightful. The cottage was a home from home, very comfortable, with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Everything in the cottage was modern and exceptionally clean, we found settling in very easy. The views from the lounge reminded us we were right on the coast everyday. We loved walking on the beach and up to the Ness. The village has a butchers, bakers, and shop for all provisions as well as various pubs and restaurants for eating out. We particularly enjoyed the Ferry Boat Inn just a couple of minutes walk away. Shaldon is a great location for visiting the South Devon Coast and Moors. We'll definitely be back.Ryan, UK - 1st December 2013
