A fun seaside haven to call your own!
Boasting a charming 'home from home' feel and with quaint harbour views to match; this eclectically furnished holiday cottage offers an ideal pet friendly retreat for family and friends staying in Brixham.
The three-storey cottage offers a relaxed ambience throughout and has been furnished with vintage second hand pieces and a painting collection by West Country artists, to provide a comfortable home in an intimate seaside setting.
Guests can fully enjoy the freedom which comes from a self-catering stay here, and all the family are welcome to stay, including up to 2 pet dogs!
The ground floor of the holiday cottage is ideal for relaxed gatherings, with a comfy sitting room with a TV and small library to unwind with and a fully equipped modern kitchen and separate dining room.
There is also a small outside courtyard leading from the back door in the kitchen with an outside tap ~ the perfect spot for washing your sea shells & beach finds or just wiping your dog's paws!
To the front of the house is a small wooden deck with a fragrant planting, where you can sit and enjoy the sun during the day and the twinkling lights of the harbour in the evenings.
Stairs lead up from the entrance hallway to a second more formal living room ideal for entertaining. The beautiful views over Brixham Harbour from the second first floor living room provides a delightful back drop for daytime relaxing and for evening drinks, and guests can fully make themselves at home.
Next door is a quiet guest bedroom also on the first floor of the cottage and is furnished with a comfortable modern double bed. A family fitted bathroom with bath tub and overhead shower is conveniently placed by the guest bedroom.
Another set of stairs lead up to the second loft-style floor, with spacious master bedroom suite furnished with a double bed and a modern and roomy en-suite bathroom with shower.
The far reaching harbour views from the master bedroom create a restful sanctuary for guests and the nautical telescope also serves as a useful tool to enjoy observing the pretty delights of Brixham and also the vibrant activity of its working harbour.
The cottage conveniently offers use of a garage for parking in front of the cottage which can then be reached by a flight of 23 steps from the gate to the right of the garage.
Brixham is a hilly fishing town and the old part where Hillview is situated, was built long before cars were around. We are therefore lucky to have a garage, but it is set at an angle to the road and is on a steep slope, so a little care is needed when parking.
Guests staying in this appealing, modernised holiday cottage are within walking distance of the harbour front and all the many local amenities on offer in Brixham.
The quaint harbour offers a fascinating seaside stroll; being home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the country, with over 100 bobbing fishing boats to admire! The harbour town's fish auction ensures guests have plenty of home-cooking opportunities to enjoy a 'catch of the day' as well as for sampling the freshly caught seafood in one of the town's many excellent restaurants.
Brixham Harbour Gardens are lovely to relax in and the unspoilt harbour side idyll in which guests can enjoy a relaxed Mid or North Devon excursion is within easy reach by car or bus from the delights of Paignton and the attractions and vibrant seaside activities of Torquay.
There are also two public swimming pools in Brixham ~ Shoalstone Sea Water Pool along Berry Head Road and the Admiral Indoor Swimming Centre.

We had a lovely stay at Hillview cottage and would very happily return. The cottage was great - nicely spacious for going with grown up children that wanted a bit of their own space, and roomy enough for taking dogs. It was also great to put the car away in the garage and forget about it for at least half the week and explore the lovely Brixham by foot! Arrangements in terms of booking were also easy and straightforward thanks. - 25th August 2018
Wonderful stay. Lovely property with amazing views over the harbour. Beautiful walks around the surrounding countryside.Miss Maria Skinner - 26th September 2017
Superb views of Brixham from this very cosy and well equipped house. Brixham is very dog friendly which made our experience with our dog extremely enjoyable. It is not a place to visit if you have mobility problems as there are a lot of steps and steep inclines everywhere! We did a lot of walking but also a lot of relaxing which the house enables you to do. We would certainly book to stay here again.Karen Collett, Isle of Wight - 1st February 2017
Superb property in a very good location. Brixham is beautiful place and very dog friendly. Will be returning.Albert Erskine, Warrington - 1st October 2016
Great location, lovely views across the harbour. Spacious property. Maybe due to being late in high season, but cleaning & maintenance lacks a standards of a personal touch. We were not able to have back door or window open all week, due to smell of urine from the courtyard.Kerry Hartley-Dunn, DE11 9LS - 1st August 2016
A fantastic place to stay. Easy booking and payment online, fast communication. The house was exactly as advertized, well kept and clean. All needed for spending a great holiday is there, a spectacular view included.A big plus is the garage which took our seven seater family van without problems. Will certainly book again !Michael, Berlin - 1st August 2016
We have had a most fantastic stay at Hillview. The house is clean, comfortable & fully equipped with everything you need. The views from the house are amazing across the harbour & great for people watching and watching boats come in and out of the harbour. Wouldn't hesitate booking or recommending to friends & family for a holiday. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday and thank you for your professionalism throughout discovery holiday homes. Nice cottage; convieniently situated obove the harbour; good view;Baerbel Meyer, Hannover - 1st May 2016
Absolutely beautiful cottage very comfortable with stunning views. Perfect cd collection on 2nd floor to relax recline and watch the boats bobbing away on the harbour. Easy stroll down to some delicious restaurants and friendly pubs, though return journey a little more strenuous up lots of steps. Great big bath to wash away any aches or pains and an adequate kitchen with lots of little extras such as condiments and a bottle of milk on arrival which was most welcome. Perfect dog friendly base to appreciate the beauty of Brixham and explore Torbay would definitely return tomorrow.Emma - Monmouth - 1st April 2016
Lovely cottage with magnificent views across the harbour for two people who are fit and able, beware though if you are elderly or infirm as there are a lot of fairly steep steps up to the front door and no hand rail to hold on to. Main bedroom is beautiful, but second bedroom disappointing and not very comfortable.Chris , UK - 1st May 2015
Stayed for a long weekend for the Pirate Festival over May Bank Holiday. Perfect location as only a short walk from the Harbour (albeit an uphill walk, not to mention all the steps/stairs!!). Perfect set up for 2 couples as we had our own bathrooms. Thinking very seriously about booking it for next year already.Deb and Andy, Johnny and Clare, Bristol and Southport - 1st May 2015
Just had an amazing week in Hillview cottage, perfect location, great views, spent most of the time in 2nd floor living room just looking out the windows. There is everything you need in the cottage and lots to do and see. It is great to see that such a nice property is pet friendly and kept spotless. Can't wait to come back.Angie, Paul and Bailey , Warwickshire - 1st May 2015
Spent a lovely long weekend in this cosy, warm and well appointed cottage. The views are amazing, great walks and everything you could need in the town. Would recommend highly.Simone and Jem, Devon - 1st March 2015
We had a fab time over Christmas in the Hillview Cottage, Brixham. Great location (very good for walking our dog), great views from both lounges, warm and cosy yet roomy, comfy beds and nice bathrooms, and very clean. A very comfortable time was had by all.Cathy, East Yorkshire - 1st January 2015
A lovely well equipped house and wonderful views, would go again but unfortunately due to our age and health cannot because of the steps leading to the front door. We did park up the road but that was not a problem although it is very steep to walk up. A lovely area with plenty to do even in the winter and also a nice area to walk the dog around.Kevin and Janice, Congresbury, Som - 1st November 2014
Lovely cottage, great location. Would definitely stay again & would recommend the cottage to anyone.Vikki Beale , Huntingdon - 1st June 2014
5* stars ~ We had a wonderful stay in this cottage 2 weeks ago. It has a lovely seaside feel to it and the views are stunning looking out to the harbour. It is beautifully furnished and has some unique pictures/paintings in each room (good taste) Over the week we visited the English Riviera Wheel in Torquay, Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Theme Park and Babbacombe Model Village/ Cliff Railway, these are all fantastic days out. We also walked to Berryhead from the cottage, stopped at the delightful café for delicious treats (dogs allowed) and walked back again. You have a good choice of shops in Brixham, there is a coop and Tesco's very close to the cottage and lots of unique shops. Our children loved the I-Scream parlour and the Bonbon sweet shop!! We had our meals most nights in the cottage and found all the utensils we needed. On other nights we had a lovely meal at the Buller Arms and found it to be very family friendly, we had a Indian takeaway delivered from Bombay Mix, this was very nice and was delivered quickly. If you don't fancy driving, the buses run every 10-15 minutes to Paignton, Torquay and Dartmouth or you could go by boat.Jools & family - 1st April 2014
5* stars ~ We've just come back from a lovely break at Hillview Cottage. It's a beautiful house. We were lucky with the weather so breakfast on the terrace was a real treat. Our favourite though was the first floor lounge - beautiful views and a great place to relax.Julie, West Midlands - 1st April 2014
The Cottage was exactly as described and lived up to all our expectations. Fantastic location and had everything we required. The property was spotless on arrival. A very enjoyable week's stay. Would certainly recommend a visit.Phil, Chepstow - 1st February 2014
I had a wonderful holiday in this glorious cottage last year and have booked again for the end of June! It has a light, spacious and friendly feel with all the comforts of home. I even managed to sit on the terrace over-looking the harbour, read a magazine and catch a suntan. The position is perfect, close to the fishing harbour where you can sit and watch boats of all sizes and prices coming and going. Local restaurants, cafés and shops provide all you need and more. We just parked our car on the day of arrival and didn't get in it again till it was time to go home - bliss!Karen - 1st May 2013
Very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Fabulous harbour views and convenient location for town centre, park and beaches, all within walking distance. Loved Brixham, loved the cottage.Tilly - 1st May 2013
