A hidden gem is the only way to describe it. Tucked away in the South Hams, you could drive right past and think it was a property of the landed gentry!
Colmer Estate however is not that at all It has been completely renovated and developed as a rural estate. During the 19th and early 20th centuries Colmer Estate was an important timber mill. Once the timber mill closed the estate and its buildings became derilict until 1985 when it underwent some conversions to holiday cottages.
Colmer has great amenties for couples and families alike:
An indoor pool which is heated and open all year round, with male, female and disabled changing rooms. There is also a lovely outdoor pool in landscaped grounds which is also heated in the high season and in May half term. Tables, chairs and loungers are provided for visitors around the pool.
There is also a modern fitness suite next to the indoor pool with a range of equipment including a treadmill, a rowing machine, weights set and stationary bike.
There is a small fishing lake which well stocked with carp and golden rudd. There are 3 or 4 stands available throughout the year. Bring your own own rods and don’t forget the fishing licence available.
