WINNER OF THE 2012 CASK ALE PUB OF THE YEAR!

Welcome to The Buccaneer Inn on Babbacombe Downs in Torquay. Situated in a stunning location on the cliff top promenade with far reaching views across Lyme Bay.

On the first floor above the pub are two 5* bedrooms, The Sloop Room and The Schooner Room, perfect for a room break with a difference. You can't help but be drawn to the large windows and the 180° sea views from each of the rooms along with the lively atmosphere of Babbacombe Downs.

The Sloop Room has a stylish & cosy bedroom with an extremely comfortable king size bed and en-suite shower room. There is an additional seating area with bar stools & table which enjoys 180° sea views overlooking the Babbacombe Downs and Lyme Bay. What better way to enjoy an aperitif before dinner! There is also an electric kettle with tea & coffee making facilities plus a small fridge & microwave for your convenience.

The Buccaneer is a family run pub where you will always find a very warm welcome. Serving a range of St. Austell cask conditioned ales and keg beers & ciders plus a selection of wines, spirits & soft drinks, and from March 2012 a new menu combining traditional fayre with a speciality hand-made burger selection and specials such as local sea-food.

Tasteful live music is staged once a week in peak season (finishing at 11pm) and before you ask, the background noise in the bedrooms is surprisingly low due to extensive sound-proofing. For those wanting to enjoy the Buccaneer to the full, you can join in with the fun below and make use of the facilities the pub has to offer. For those who just want a luxury room in a superb location then you can utilise the accommodations separate entrance and experience the full privacy you desire.

Gaining an impressive reputation within the first few months under new ownership, you will not be disappointed with the hospitality & cleanliness of the luxury bedroom and the pub below.

Close by, the famous Babbacombe Cliff Railway built in 1926, has shuttled hundreds of thousands of holiday makers to and from Oddicombe Beach in over 84 years of service.

Surrounded by some of the most breath-taking scenery to be found in the UK, the Cliff Railway provides a vital and non-exhausting way for locals and holiday makers alike to soak up the peaceful atmosphere and take in the amazing views as they travel to and from the water’s edge.

Torquay's busy harbour side and town centre are just a couple of miles away by car. Alternatively, you can walk there & back along the famous South West Coastal Path, with stunning scenery every step of the way.

The English Riviera is a resort in the truest sense of the word, attracting visitors of all ages and interests throughout the year. Undergoing a water front regeneration and a number of new attractions in Torquay and accommodation schemes, Torquay has something for everyone and for all ages, at all times of the year!

Torquay has been one of the UK 's top holiday destinations since Victorian Times when the gentry promenaded, bathing huts were wheeled down to the beaches and anyone who was anyone had an attractive villa overlooking the sea.

Torquay's waterfront is the focus of life in the town. Here you'll find the palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, a lively harbour and an international marina. The new Living Coasts attraction adds to the variety of the new waterfront and the illuminated bridge is a great backdrop to a relaxing evening drink. Yet within minutes of Torquay town centre there are beautiful beaches easily accessible by foot, road or sea.

There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves and beaches and walks to rival any in the South West of England, with a climate that belongs somewhere much further south. There are opportunities for surfing, safe swimming, diving, sailing, angling and wonderful opportunities to study the natural wildlife at your leisure.
