Things to see and do: Downderry Beach – local beach was excellent for children, and plenty locally to keep them occupied for the week. A Great place to escape to! Looe - Looe is one of Cornwall’s most popular holiday towns, and is located on both banks of the River Looe. East Looe is the busier part, and here you can visit the main shopping area and the busy harbour. In West Looe you’ll find a quieter environment, as well as Hannafore Beach, which offers great views of Looe Island. The Monkey Sanctuary - Open from Easter to September. The Eden Project - Looe Island View is located 27 miles from the Eden project or around a 45 minute car drive. Looe Island - Also known as St George’s Island, this half-mile wide island lies off Hannafore Point, southwest of Looe. It is possible to walk to the island during the lowest tides of the year. A medieval chapel was built on it, and there is a legend that as a child Jesus and his uncle Joseph of Arimathea visited when trading for tin. The Atkins sisters bought the island and lived on it for 40 years from 1964, it is now owned by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust which will maintain it as a nature reserve. South West Coast Path - Numerous walks along the south west coast path taking in Downderry, Seaton, Looe, Polperro and east towards Portwrinkle, Cawsand, Kingsand.
