Aug 2012

This home is simply ideal for a peaceful getaway. My husband and 19 month old daughter stayed here for 5 nights in August 2012 and we couldn't have dreamt of a more perfect place to 'unplug'. The days were warm enough to nap on the patio and take in the tranquil surroundings and the nights were blessed with great sunsets. The high end furnishings are clean, well cared for and very comfortable.

Bowen island is also a super cute island with tons of activities. Kayaking, hiking, eating at great restaurants, or just chilling -- it's the ideal place to getaway.

For ten luxurious days my family and I stayed at the Bowen Island Beach House. Upon arrival my daughter said that this is like a movie star's getaway. After settling in to our own bedrooms we met on the glorious deck and marvelled at the incredible view. We spent many a day on the comfortable patio furniture just sitting and watching the ferry and tug boat traffic in the distance, the eagles flying overhead or the heron that would land nightly on the swimming platform. At night we could even see the city lights of Nanaimo twinkling in the distance. On our lazy days when we didn't feel like cooking in the well stocked kitchen we would stroll down the street in Snug Cove and eat at one of the various cafes and restaurants. It was really what we all needed to decompress at the end of a busy school and work year. We thank Janet and Abe for being amazing hosts and for a fabulous stay in their piece of paradise.

The Bowen Island Beach House is an architectural gem, classic modernism perched with magnificent views across the Strait of Georgia – even in the drizzle. Watch ocean going craft, large and small, and the follow the hum of seaplanes on their island routes. Cradled on a rock ledge, surrounded by nature and exquisite natural plantings the house is carefully planned, detailed and furnished.

This pristine home seems designed for peace and quiet, mindful of every urban comfort. It demands respect, however, and I would not recommend it for guests with children. The well equipped kitchen can be handily supplied by the hospitable shopkeepers in Snug Cove. Close the wooden gate behind you, and relax, cook, enjoy and dream.

Bowen Island Bliss is a truly magical place, a sophisticated all-season destination for a peaceful and intimate getaway you’ll always remember. Custom built in 2010 the house is sited just 10 metres from the sea as a unique and timeless structure that blends seamlessly with the outdoor landscape.

It is a spacious and luxuriously decorated 3-bedroom contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with mesmerizing panoramic, 100-mile views of the sparkling Strait of Georgia and Vancouver Island’s snow capped mountains. Enjoy your stay, for a few days, or an unforgettable week.

Bowen Island Bliss is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc., and internationally recognized landscape architect, Janet Rosenberg, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or in the living room by a contemporary, two-sided wood burning fireplace.

In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors and 14-foot ceilings and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D TV, cable, DVD, Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete your relaxing experience.

Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor to ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the home's magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the ocean surge and a star filled horizon revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room, awakening to check on the 4 meter tidal changes. Even the showers have glass walls, so you don't have to miss the scenery as you lather up.

If you desire a true vacation, try our excellent butler services! Book a butler for cooking, shopping, escorted tours or even a relaxing massage.

Bowen Island is a 20-minute, stress-free ferry ride from West Vancouver, via Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Ferries run every hour. Bowen Island is also serviced by water taxis from Horseshoe Bay or Granville Island in downtown Vancouver.

If you prefer to arrive on Bowen Island by your own boat, you can moor right in front of the house on our private mooring ball in a protected anchorage.

Bowen Island is a small community but it has everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.

Bowen Island Bliss is also fully wheelchair accessible.

Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.

Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. For those who prefer a slower pace, there is whale watching, bald eagle viewing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, oyster harvesting, golfing at the island's 9-hole course or the simple pleasure of staying at home and reading a good book. Oceanfront walking trails at Cape Roger Curtis are only minutes away. World class alpine skiing is 60 minutes away in Whistler via the Sea to Ski highway.

Bowen Island is also a hub for culture and art. Join in the year-found celebrations or various festivals hosted by the Island's residents. Markets, crafts fairs, galleries, and several unique shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else are not to be missed.
